| The Tapestry of Friendship is proof that “libraries are more than words.”
In 2002 the Pelican Rapids Public Library staff and members of the Friends of the Library, created a tapestry of fiber art that represents the cultures that have immigrated to this community. The Tapestry was a way to communicate that the diverse people living here have worth. Not only has their beautiful fiber art been a bridge between the cultures, but their stories as refugees, immigrants and second-generation immigrants are inspirational. The volunteers who worked on this project and the artists with whom they worked have all learned a lot about each other; they have become friends.
The Tapestry and artist’s photographs and personal essays are on permanent display in the Library. |
